Alexanders (Smyrnium olusatrum) is a flowering plant native to Europe, western Asia and North Africa. It is commonly known as Alisanders, Horse Parsley and Smyrnium. The plant can grow to 1-1.5 m tall, bearing yellow-green flowers and black fruits. It has the appearance and taste to that of celery. It was once used as a medicinal herb, and in many dishes, but this has been replaced by celery.

Alexanders can be found growing on cliff paths, the first seaside greenery of the year, and is a favorite foodstuff for horses.
