Amherstia nobilis

Amherstia nobilis, or Pride of Burma, is a tropical tree from southern Burma. It is also known as the Orchid Tree. The Pride of Burma is commonly found in gardens in the tropics. It was named after Lady Amherst, and is the only species of the Amherstia genus.

Amherstia nobilis bears flowers that hang down in long inflorescence. These flowers are bright crimson red in color. The seedpods of the Amherstia is about 11 to 20 centimeters long.
