Boletus badius is an edible mushroom commonly known as Bay Bolete. It can be found in mixed woodlands in Europe and North America. It has a chestnut-colored cap which is almost spherical in young specimens before broadening and flattening out to 18cm. The pores on hymenium are cream to pale yellow but stain blue when bruised or cut. The flesh is white, becomes pale blue when stains. The stipe is bare and 12.5 cm tall, and similar in color to the cap but paler. Boletus badius is less affected by maggots than other boletes.
