Brugmansia is a genus of flowering plants in the family Solanaceae, comprising about 7 species. It is native to subtropical regions of South America. It is commonly grown for its trumpet-shaped flowers, thus its common name Angels' Trumpets.
Brugmansia are evergreen or semi-evergreen shrubs, trees, and annuals cultivated chiefly for their colorful flowers borne mainly in summer-autumn. The plants can grow 3-11 m tall, with brown, slightly rough bark. The leaves are green, alternate, large, 10-30 cm long and 4-18 cm wide, with an entire or coarsely toothed margin, and are covered with fine hairs. The white, yellow, orange, red or pink flowers are 14-50 cm long and 10-35 cm wide at the mouth of white, and have a delicate lemony scent. the flowers may be single or double.
Brugmansia grows well in full sun, moist, fertile and well-drained soil. Propagation is by seed, greenwood or semi-ripe cuttings in early summer. Pests are whitefly and spider mite. All parts of pplants are highly toxic if ingested
