Calamagrostis is a genus of Grass in family Poaceae, comprises of about 260 species. Mostly found the in temperate regions of the Northern Hemisphere and the Southern Hemisphere. The two common names for Calamagrostis are Reed Grass and Small Reed. They can be easily grown in moist, shady woodland garden or at the back of a mixed border, in sun or in partial shade. Propagation can be done by division in spring.
Cultivar Calamagrostis (Calamagrostis x acutiflora cv. Karl Foerster) has attractive flower head and is widely grown as ornamental grass in North America.
