Costmary (Tanacetum balsamita) is a perennial temperate herb. It is also known as Alecost, Balsam herb, Bible leaf, or Mint geranium. Costmary has pleasant, slightly medicinal or balsamic smell. Its leaves contain a range of essential oils, such as carvone, beta-thujone, t-dihydrocarvone, c-dihydrocarvone, dihydrocarveol isomer c-carveol and t-carveol.
