Craterellus cornucopioides is an edible mushroom, with common names like Trumpet of Death, Black Chanterelle, Black Trumpet, Trompette du Mort and Horn of Plenty. Its distributions are at North, Central and South America, Europe, Asia and Japan. It can be found growing in clusters, in deciduous woods from August to November.
Craterellus cornucopioides is a black, trumpet-shaped, wavy, folded margin mushroom with a hollow stem. The flesh is very easily broken and slightly leathery. The mushroom has a pleasant smell and good flavor, but is hard to find because of its black color, which easily blends in with the leaf litter on the forest floor.
