Cubanelle is a variety of sweet pepper of Capsicum annuum, and is used extensively in Puerto Rico's cuisines. It is light yellowish-green in color, but will turn bright red if allow to ripe. Compared to bell pepper, Cubanelle is longer, has thinner flesh, and more wrinkled appearance.
In the United States, cubanelle peppers are used to replace Poblano peppers, and most of the the country's cubanelle imports are from the Dominican Republic, where they are called aji cubanela.
