Echinops (Globe thistle) is a genus of about 120 species of flowering plants in the family Asteraceae, native to Europe east to central Asia and south to the mountains of tropical Africa. It has spiky, thistle-like, dark green to grey-green leaves and produce blue or white spherical flower heads. The unusual flowers attract butterflies and bees and it is easy to grow. Native to east Europe to central Asia and south to the mountains of tropical Asia.
Echinops loves full dun and well-drained soil. Propagation can be done either by seed in mid-spring or division in spring or autumn. Aphids is the only known pest attacking the plant.
