Epimedium (Rowdy Lamb Herb, Barrenwort)

Epimedium (Rowdy Lamb Herb, Barrenwort, Bishop's Hat, Fairy Wings, Horny Goat Weed) is a genus of about 50 species of herbaceous flowering plants in the family Berberidaceae, endemic to southern China. They are believed to be aphrodisiacs, especially Horny Goat Weed.

Species of Epimedium are herbaceous perennials growing from an underground rhizome, ideal for growing around trees and shrubs. The majority have four-parted "spider-like" flowers in spring, have spurs and are yellow in color. The plants need partial shade, fertile and moisture-retentive soil. Propagation is through ripe seed, divide after flowering or in autumn. Pests and diseases for the plants are vine weevils and viruses.
