Filipendula is a genus of about 12 species of flowering plants in the family Rosaceae, native to the temperate regions of the Northern Hemisphere. There are a few well-known species like Filipendula ulmaria (Meadowsweet), Filipendula vulgaris (Dropwort), Filipendula occidentalis (Queen-of-the-forest) and Filipendula rubra (Queen-of-the-praire).
Filipendula can grow to 0.5 -2m tall, with dense clusters of small, cream-white to pink fragrant flowers. Suitable for wild gardens and good for bog gardens. It likes sun or partial shade in moisture-retentive soil. Propagation is by seed in spring, divide in spring or autumn. Check out for mildew.
