Groundcover Plants

Groundcover plants are planted over the ground, often to prevent erosion, to retain the soil quality, and also to beautify the garden. They may include different types of ornamental grass, moss, low-growing shrubs, herbaceous plants and vines. At times a groundcover plant is preferred over grass as it provides more "body" and can retain moisture.

In our past gardens, we have made used of junipers, moss and ornamental grass as ground covers. Other plant that you can consider includes ivy, mint, Japanese honeysuckle and periwinkle. The following are details on a selection of groundcover plants that we have documented with gardening tips.
