Hohenbergia stellata is a species of epiphytic plant in the family Bromeliaceae, native to Brazil, Trinidad, and Venezuela. It is a popular ornamental flowers due to its brightly colored flowers.
Hohenbergia stellata is a rosette forming plant, growing up to 1.2 m tall and 90 cm wide. It has strap-shaped green leaves with purple to red tips, 1 meter long with finely serrated margins. Each rosette usually produces a single inflorescence that lasts for a few months. The inflorescence extends out of the leaves, and can be 1 meter long, bearing compact clusters of red flowers at the tip of the inflorescence. Each cluster consists of red floral bracts within which purple flowers can be seen. The three-petaled flowers are fused to form a long, narrow tube. The fruit is a fleshy berry which contains seeds.
Hohenbergia stellata grows well in full sun and well-drained soil. It can be directly planted in the ground or in a large container.
