Least duckweed (Lemna minuta)

Least duckweed (Lemna minuta) is a species of duckweed in the family Araceae, native to parts of America. It grows in calm, slow-moving or stagnant freshwater habitat.

Least duckweed has very small leaves and short roots. The plant varies in shape, depending on growth conditions. It usually grows in pairs in full sunlight, and as a single green, oval, translucent body with the size not more than 2.5 mm long in shady area.

Propagation is primarily by vegetative reproduction. Two daughter plants buds off from the adult plant, allowing rapid colonisation of new water and re-colonisation.
