Mimusops elengi Gardening

Mimusops elengi is a medium-size, evegreen tree found growing in tropical forests in South Asia, Southeast Asia and Northern Australia. It is commonly known as Bullet Wood tree (English), Tanjong (Malay), Bakula (Sanskrit), Bakul (Hindi), Pikul (Thai) and Kha-Yay (Myanmar).

Mimusops elengi can grow to a height of 5-16 m, with leaves that are glossy, dark green, oval-shaped, 5-14 cm long, and 2.5-6 cm wide. It bears cream-colored, hairy, fragrant flowers in April, follow by fruiting in June. The fruit is green and change to bright red-orange when ripe.
