Water Snowflake (Nymphoides indica)

Water Snowflake (Nymphoides indica) is a species of hardy perennial in the family Menyanthaceae, native to tropical America. It is also known as False Indian waterlily, White water fringe, Snowflake lily and Floating heart.

Water Snowflake has floating stolons and round leaves with entire margins, 5-20 cm across, with a heart-shaped base. The stems are a few meters long . The leaves and flowers are terminal but the stems are sometimes branched. The flowers are white with a deep yellow center. The petals have characteristic fringed margins. The seeds are 1-2 mm long, smooth and straw-colored.

Water Snowflake grows in still and flowing water of up to 2 m deep on varieties of substrates. Propagation is by leaf-cuttings or by seeds.
