Tabasco pepper


   


Tabasco pepper is a variety of chili pepper of species Capsicum frutescens. It is known through its used in Tabasco sauce, followed by peppered vinegar. Tabasco is the name of a Mexican state.

Tabasco pepper is a skyward-growing, tapered fruit with juicy flesh, 4 cm long, which is initially pale yellowish-green, and turns yellow and orange before ripening to bright red. Tabasco pepper has a heat level of 30,000 to 50,000 SHU (Scoville Heat Unit).
