Trachelospermum is a genus of evergreen climbers with fragrant flowers in family Apocynaceae, with about 15 species in the genus. Fourteen species are native to southern and eastern Asia and one species( T. difforme) is found in southeastern North America.

These evergreen, twining climbers have long stems which can climb to a height of 12m or more up in trees. The climbing plants have glossy dark green leaves and fragrant flowers of white, cream-white or purple. Trachelospermum jasminoides (Star Jasmine or Trader's Compass) is a popular ornamental plant which is grown for its strong scented, clustered white flowers. Its dark green and glossy leaves will turn to reddish in winter.

Trachelospermum grows well in sun or partial shade, in fertile and well-drained soil. The plant needs to be protected from cold and blustery wind. Propagation is by semi-ripe cuttings in summer or layer in autumn. It is fairly easy to grow Trachelospermum as it needs little attention.
