Flower of the Cannonball Tree (Couroupita guianensis)
On 27 January, 2008, my wife and I joined a group of enthusiasts from the Penang Heritage Trust to visit the Penang Botanic Gardens. We were given a briefing on the history of the garden, and thereafter we were taken on a walk around the garden. I manage to photograph some of the flowers along the way - each time we stop to take a photo, we would be left behind while the group move ahead. So we had to hurry up a little bit. On this page, please enjoy with us the photographs that we managed to shoot. We want to thank our friend Clement Liang, a fellow council member of the Penang Heritage Trust and also a member of the Friends of the Botanic Gardens Society, for his help in identifying and naming the flowers we shat.
